Friends

I am a very blessed woman in more ways than one. I have a husband and daughter that simply adore me, a family that I feel like I could never get enough of and some of the best friends a girl could ask for.

I have friends that I have known for 10+ years and some that I've just gotten to know since having Preslei.  The thing about growing older is that you realize you don't have to talk on the phone every single night for 2 hours to reassure your friendship.  My two best friends, Ashley and Brian, well, we go months without a phone call or a visit but we always pick up right where we left off and nothing ever changes between us.  I love that.  I also love how I've made new friends since having Preslei.  Its nice to have those friends that you can just sit and talk about being parents with and they "get it".  I'm also glad that those same friends have kids that are some of Preslei's best friends.  I have also met some great women (who I consider friends) thru blogging and Facebook.  The things that these girls have gone thru in their lives seriously astonish me.  I honestly don't think I have ever met stronger, braver and more encouraging women in my life.

But, I can't help but to think of the people that I used to be so close with that I never speak to anymore.   I have my reasons for not speaking to most of the ones that I became distant with but I still can't help but hope that they are doing well.  There is that ounce of me that wants to try to reconnect with those certain few but then I have to tell myself that we aren't friends for a reason.  Maybe that is just me being me.  I can't help but to be nice and forgiving.  I think it is sad when I look back at old photos of me and those friends and everything looked so perfect in the picture and then you realize it has been YEARS and you haven't spoken to each other.

I guess life has its own way of making new paths for you and I'm so happy to be on the path I'm on now because I wouldn't trade it for anything in the entire world!

A must read....

I've written about the devastating tragedy that rocked our community to its core but I wanted to post this blog entry from Makiah's mom, Rachel, in hopes that everyone who reads my blog will read this. One of my FAVORITE quotes is "When you choose your behavior, you choose your consequence." No truer words will ever be spoken. People need to realize that EVERY single decision they make has a consequence, either good or bad. Please keep the King family in your prayers.

Preslei's first ER visit 1/2/2011

Yes, you read right....Preslei had to go to the ER this past Sunday. While some people may not think it is that big of a deal, I was freaking out. If you know me, you will know that I am NOT a fan of hospitals, in fact, I could cut off an arm and try to sew it on myself before I go to the hospital.  And ER's....yeah, I hate them more than my worst enemy.  I don't have a phobia or anything but you see, I'm just REALLY impatient and not to sound snobby, but MOST people in ERs gross me out.  I personally would rather not "mingle" with people that haven't showered in a week and people that just stumble out of bed looking all disheveled without brushing their teeth to just see why their ear is hurting.  So anyways, rewind to New Year's Eve day.  Preslei has been going thru a phase where she just doesn't really like to eat a whole lot.  Coming from a fat girl, I'm like, "hey, I'm not gonna force my child to eat if she's not hungry" so Friday, she barely ate or drank anything but I didn't really think anything of it because she was acting fine.  We proceeded with our NYE plans and Keith, Preslei and I headed to our friends' house to partake in a family friendly NYE bash.  Shortly after midnight, my friend Amanda's daughter, Madison, said Preslei was really hot.  Madison LOVES Preslei and acts like her older sister.  So, sure enough, Preslei was burning up with fever.  We got home and her temp was 103.2.  Scared me to death.  I gave her tylenol and motrin and from that point, her fever would go away, come back, go away, come back ALL weekend.  Saturday night she started coughing really bad and had runny nose.  When she wasn't better by Sunday, I called our family doc and he said that I needed to take her to the ER so they could check her for the flu.  He said that if we waited too long the medicine wouldnt work if she did in fact have the flu.  So off we went and luckily, there were only 3 people ahead of us and we were in and out in an hour and she tested negative.  Up until yesterday afternoon, she was still not feeling well but she finally started acting like our wild and crazy kid!  Hopefully, we won't have to visit the ER any time soon!!!

Below is a picture of my princess laying on the hospital bed.  We *had* to take Preslei's beloved, Bella Sophia, "to see the doctor and feel better" (per Preslei).  Notice how Bella is the one wearing the mask and not Preslei....LOL.  Did they REALLY expect a 3 yr old to wear a mask?? I think not.
